Burns Buick GMC > Washington Township Buick GMC Dealer >Buyers looking for a subcompact crossover with a long list of features and lots of tech goodies will want to take a close look at the 2020 Buick Encore. The Encore is a hit at dealerships like the Washington Township GMC dealer for several reasons, including its exceptional infotainment system, which comes with a Wi-Fi hotspot and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Younger drivers appreciate the Encore’ economical price tag. The driver and passengers will love the Encore’s quiet cabin and its ample amount of passenger space.
According to GMC Washington Township, the 2020 Buick Encore comes in four trim levels: 1SV (base), Preferred, Sport Touring and Essence. All models get front-wheel drive standard and all but the base trim can choose the optional all-wheel-drive system. Power is supplied by a 1.4-liter turbo-four engine that develops 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque, matched to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The engine is equipped with a start/stop system that helps deliver excellent fuel economy, with an EPA-estimated 25 mpg city/30 mpg highway with front-wheel drive and 24 mpg city/29 mpg highway with all-wheel drive.*
The Encore’s all-wheel drive features an Active On-Demand system that provides outstanding traction on icy, snowy and wet road surfaces. If the system senses the wheels slipping, it sends power to the wheels with the most grip. It increases fuel economy by using front-wheel drive when the all-wheel-drive system isn’t needed.
Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com wrote: “The 2020 Buick Encore occupies a sparsely populated middle ground between mainstream and premium — kind of semi-swish. It’s small but rides high, which makes it well-suited to city duties. ... The ride quality is composed but never harsh. The cabin is also hushed, thanks to active noise cancellation.”
The 2020 Buick Encore has an upmarket feel, with a sophisticated cabin that looks great whether the owner chooses cloth, faux leather or genuine leather seats. The infotainment system comes with an 8-inch color touchscreen that’s sure to impress. There’s 18.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and a full 48.4 cubic feet with the seats folded, a good showing for this segment.
On the outside, the Encore gets premium styling elements, including a winged grille, a sculpted hood and attractive 18-inch alloys. The wheels have been pushed into the corners, providing a bold stance and awesome stability.
Standard features on the base trim include heated side mirrors, roof rails, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a tilt/telescope steering column, a folding front-passenger seat, and 60/40-split-folding rear seats.
At the top of the lineup, the Essence trim comes with a heated steering wheel, heated leather seats and remote start, which is great for drivers who live in hot or cold climates. The Experience package includes even more amenities, such as exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels, navigation and a sunroof.
The 2020 Buick Encore received the highest rating of five stars by the NHTSA for overall crashworthiness. IIHS safety ratings aren’t available at this time.
