A Legacy That Started With a Dream

Our story begins long before 1970. William Burns founded Broad Street Pontiac in Newark in 1933, but his journey started much earlier. Born in Warsaw, Poland in 1898, he immigrated to the United States as a child and worked as a trolley driver and chauffeur before pursuing the American dream of owning his own business. In 1925, he purchased a used car lot in Newark. Through innovation, customer service, and relentless work ethic, he earned a Pontiac franchise and built a successful family business alongside his sons. That same commitment to customers still drives Burns Buick GMC today.
