The automotive media gives the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 high marks. Motor Trend
writes: "As one of the most upscale trucks on the market, the Sierra 1500 is worth consideration, offering luxurious amenities without giving up capability to its working-class Silverado sibling. The 2024 Sierra 1500 represents one of GMC's staple products at its best yet."
The 2024 Sierra 1500 is offered in eight trim levels: Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate. Customers can select from three cab configurations: regular cab, double cab, and crew cab. Not every trim is available in all configurations. Depending on the cab, three bed lengths are available.
Four engines are on offer:
- Turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine producing 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque.
- Turbodiesel 3.0-liter inline-six developing 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque.
- 5.3-liter V8 generating 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.
- 6.2-liter V8 good for an impressive 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque
Availability of these engines varies depending on the trim and configuration. The 2.7-liter four-cylinder and the 5.3-liter V8 (with rear-wheel drive) are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 5.3-liter V8 (when equipped with four-wheel drive), the diesel inline-six, and the powerful 6.2-liter V8 all come with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Most trims have standard rear-wheel drive, and 4WD is optional on many models.
The interior of the Sierra has been crafted with the driver's convenience at its core, with all controls intuitively placed within arm's reach. As you climb the trim ladder, there's a noticeable improvement in material quality. Beginning with the SLE, drivers are treated to a standard 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. The upper trims get a wealth of luxurious features, such as a power-adjustable steering column and a head-up display.
Moving up to the Denali Ultimate edition, the Sierra's luxury quotient skyrockets with abundant leather finishes and open-pore wood trim. Front-seat passengers will enjoy the comfort of 16-way power adjustments and a massage function. Ample cubby storage for smaller items ensures the cabin remains organized. The Sierra 1500 has a versatile available tailgate that can be configured in several ways. The class-exclusive carbon-fiber-reinforced cargo bed is lighter and sturdier than its steel counterparts.
