Buyers looking for a compact SUV that combines elegant styling, lots of power and a comfortable ride will want to take a close look at the 2019 GMC Terrain. According to the GMC Dealer in New Jersey, the 2018 update saw the Terrain with a smaller size and lighter weight, which increased this crossover's fuel economy and performance.

The GMC Terrain rides on the same platform as the Chevrolet Equinox but the Terrain appeals to a more upscale audience. Customers at GMC New Jersey enjoy the Terrains' attractive interior, while tall passengers are thankful for the plentiful headroom in both rows. Drivers will appreciate the infotainment system's easy-to-use interface. Transporting large objects is simple, thanks to the extra cargo space afforded by folding down the rear seats, which can be done with the touch of a lever.

The automotive press gives the GMC Terrain high marks, with Automobile Magazine writing: "While peeling away the Terrain's skin will reveal the same bones, dash layout, and drivetrains as the frugal and family-oriented Chevy Equinox, the second-generation GMC seems to have transcended those economical roots. It's better looking, both inside and out, and far plusher than its skeleton implies. The Equinox is already a damn fine people hauler, but by giving it a slightly more luxurious appeal, GM made a crossover that's attractive to premium SUV buyers and mass-market consumers alike."

The 2019 GMC Terrain comes in the same trim levels as last year: SL, SLE, SLT and Denali. All models get standard front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. There are three engine choices:

  • An available 1.6-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engine that makes 137 hp and 240 lb.-ft. of torque is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission. This engine is extremely fuel efficient, with an EPA-estimated 32 mpg combined with front- or all-wheel drive.*
