The automotive press gives the 2019 GMC Sierra 2500HD high marks. The experts at Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com had some great things to say. They wrote: "Check out the Sierra HD [if you] need a heavy-duty truck that's capable and sophisticated in equal measure. Leaning toward capability, the All Terrain X package will conquer a plethora of conditions, while the Denali versions are the most lavish. The 2019 Sierra HD has much in common with its Chevrolet Silverado HD stablemate, but the GMC version feels more upscale."
The 2019 Sierra 2500HD has two powerful engines. The base Sierra gets a standard 6.0-liter V8 engine that makes 360 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The other trims have a choice between the 6.0-liter V8 and a 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 that generates 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of twist, teamed to another six-speed automatic. This powerplant has an available bi-fuel option that allows it to run on gasoline or compressed natural gas.
On the inside, the driver and passengers are treated to the perfect blend of utility and sophistication. There are large gauges and rubberized switches that can be operated when the driver is wearing gloves. The seats are large and very comfortable. Owners can opt to take advantage of leather upholstery, Wi-Fi and wireless charging.
Standard features on the base Sierra include 17-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, a rearview camera and a wide array of safety features. Move up from the base trim and the Sierra 2500HD gets an automatic locking rear differential. The SLE trim comes with a tailgate that can be locked remotely, a steering wheel clad in leather, and carpeting. The SLT trim gets leather upholstery, power-folding mirrors, heated front seats that are power-adjustable, and an AC outlet. The upper Denali trim comes with the full range of features, including 20-inch alloys, an upgraded Bose audio system and navigation.
